Scratching/sores: What is this?

My daughter has severe severe itchy skin. She also has keratosis pilaris, which is something with her hair follicles. She has the worst case of dandruff I've ever seen on a child. We've use Sarna on the skin, apple cider vinager on the hair. Lately she has been scratching so hard and I started recently noticing these red sores. Now I don't know if this is a new skin condition on her and she is scratching at it, or if the sores are simply from her scratching so hard. Any ideas? I do have an appointment with her doctor next week, but I don't know if I will get any concrete diagnosis.

Oh that poor thing:cry: Itching is just miserable I have no idea what to even suggest. I sure hope that the doctor has some answers.

Well, we've all been on/off gluten over the years. I have a confirmed gluten sensitivity and I have eczema. My guess is that I'm going to have to bite the bullet and force us all to stick to it. I know it will help with whatever it is. But right now I dont' have the money to just throw out half our food and replace it with stuff we can eat. So I need something to help her in the meantime so yeah, I sure hope the doctor can help. And to show you just how bad she is hurting? She said she's willing to eat nothing but meat, potatoes, rice, fruits and veggies if it means this will go away. It looks way worse than the pics show.

What about milk sensitivity and it causing eczema? I can't think of anything else at the moment. It looks very uncomfortable :( I hope what ever is causing it you find out real soon. :hugs:

Has psoriasis been ruled out? It tends to get much worse in the winter months (less sun exposure, etc).

Sorry for your poor girl :(

I would see the doc again. It kinda looks like scabies.

:(

hmm, I haven't ruled that out for sure. We do lactose free at home, but obviously it could also be casein. Thanks for the idea

Isn't scabies contagious? I keep thinking it is something diet related or autoimmune or something. But I will definately look into that. We have an appointment on Thursday

I really don't know. She's eleven and sleeps completely on her own upstairs. I do see her scratching plenty all day though.she says it hurts
