Need urgent bean help
I put beans to soak around twenty mins ago. Then a few mins ago I decided I didn't care to soak them and was going to just cook them. A bunch of them are now wrinkly and some seem to have skins coming off. Does this mean they are bad? Can I use them?

Re: Need urgent bean help
You can use them. You likely have older beans. The wrinkling is the water absorbing.

Re: Need urgent bean help
THANK YOU!
I think they may be like 6 months old, from the bulk bin at the market so unknown how old before then. My baby already is having some tummy troubles with a cold, but he LOVES beans, and I think he will have the appetite for them if I make them. I am trying to coax him to eat something but I don't want to make him sicker. Thank you SO much for answering so fast. I really appreciate it. |
Re: Need urgent bean help
Your welcome. I never soak my beans. I have a cookbook that said the cooking time saved by soaking was only like 30 minutes. Considering people usually soak longer it kinda seems to defeat the purpose of soaking them.
