What do you ladies wear in the tub while birthing?
 

Hello Ladies!

I thought I would post this in the general pregnancy forum as well... :)
What do you ladies wear while birthing in the tub/birthing pool? I am hoping to be in the water for some of this birth this time around...at least before baby comes out. I am also hoping to wear a big shirt or something instead of the gowns they provide at the hospital... but speaking of that, what do you ladies do/wear during birth? I am new at some of these different approaches and would love to learn all I can about the options! :)

I haven't actually used it, BUT I gave this a lot of thought during my last pregnancy as I'm not comfy being nude. I bought a tankini top and a swim "skirt" that goes over a bikini bottom but doesn't actually have panties in them. I'm a very private modest person so this is what I had planned. Then come to find out only one room at my hossy has a tub, the rest just showers, which I was still fine with. Wet cotton is NOT comfortable to me so I wanted something that was still comfortable when wet. And then after all that research and talking to people I ended up with a c section. But anyway, no experience, but that was my "plan" last time around.

In water anything that is not tight, is not comfortable. I would consider a sports bra or maternity bathing suit top. I moved non-stop. So any 'drag' from the water would have defeated the purpose of my being in the water. I'mgiving birth any moment and the mear thought if a large shirt makes me really claustrophobic


Eta: if you think you might just 'sit' on labor I suppose a skirt is fun. But the water hides any lady bits. I actually wanted to thrash and shift positions constantly due to back labor. A skirt would have become like a blanket in water. Yuck

I wore a cami with a shelf bra. I'm large chested and wouldn't be comfortable without a little support. No bottoms, the water hides everything and I didn't want anything restricting on my waist or that area...

A comfortable sports bra or a tank top with a built-in bra. :)

This is my plan.

I already had a bunch of cotton cheap sports bra and shelf bras - Hanes or fruit of the loom, so I brought those and just peeled off the wet one and put on a dry one when I got out of the tub.

I didn't want to buy anything special. This time if I can find a fitting bikini top I will use that or I'll just wear the cheapie bras again. I have a couple stretchy non cotton ones now that would work well too.

No bottoms. I kept it dark while laboring and the water hides things anyway.
