Leotard question, underwear or no?
 

So parents of dancers/gymnasts, do your girls where underwear under their leotards?

I ask because my DD1 (5) was told by her dance teacher not to, so she doesn't. Now she does gymnastics instead of dance and wears the same leotards but I notice most of the girls wear undies. So I am not sure if she needs to wear them or not.

My daughter wears tights and a leotard for ballet. I never put underwear on too. But that's just me. I was never told what to do.

at that age I wore undies...when I was around 9 is when I just wore tights and leotard

any gymnasts want to weigh in?

She always wore tights when she danced but now no tights with the gymanstics.

I would do what ever you are comfortable with her wearing.

personally at that age I'd like my dd to wear undies under her leotards

Honestly I would prefer she wear them and will make the decision but I thought I would ask to see what the norm was.

I was admittedly quite a tomboy so her activity choices are out of my experience and comfort zone :giggle2:

The Olympic gymnasts wear underwear.

My 7 year old does competitive gymnastics and doesn't wear undies. Just the Leo and the tiny bike shorts

gymnasts usually don't wear underwear. It is pretty unflattering when it sticks out from their leos. That being said, my daughter did gymnastics and she wore undies but she also wore shorts.
