Have you ever heard of...

A dairy sensitivity showing up after 3 1/2 months?? My 4 month old has been completely and totally miserable for the the last 3 almost 4 weeks. She went from happy carefree good natured baby to a crying, screaming congested mess. She fights sleep and won't stay asleep very long (15-20mins), runny/stuffy nose, congested, coughing, and resisting nursing ALOT. As in, she screams at the top of her lungs when I try to feed her. I had her on zantac for almost 2 weeks for reflux. No change. I also cut out dairy for two weeks and while she was slightly slightly better at times she never showed a significant change. Then yesterday and today I ate some dairy again and she's been really upset all day today. Is this possibly? Everyone I know says that it usually shows signs earlier and you will see a difference within a week. I know it can take 3-5 weeks to completely leave mine and her system. Thoughts?

I can't explain it but my son did at 8 months. Before then he was fine with my eating dairy. Then suddenly he had really bad diahhrea that just didn't go away. We finally eliminated dairy and he was fine again. He passed the allergy tests for dairy though. The doctor said he just isn't digesting it properly. Which to me is weird because he didn't have an issue with it before. But evidence is evidence. When I would accidentally have some dairy he had issues. At that time he couldn't handle any dairy at all. Now at almost 20 months he can handle some dairy but not others. Like he can have butter, buttermik, cheese, and yogurt. He cannot have anything that has straight milk in it though. So no shakes, ice cream, etc.

Thank you. She hasn't had any weird poop or diarrhea, but she has been gassy. Its such a guessing game and I'm just trying to figure out what the heck is going on.

Eliminate dairy for a while. Worst case, you'll know it isn't dairy.

There's so many reasons for babies to be fussy. It is hard to figure out which ones are the reason this time. 1 thing that may help is a good probiotic for her. Be sure it is lactose free of course (in case it is a dairy allergy).

It takes dairy 2 weeks to get out of your system, so if you only stopped for 2 weeks it wasn't totally gone. Food allergies can begin at any time. Are you sure she doesn't have a cold or something? :)

We saw a gastronomy specialist today and he confirmed the milk protein intolerance. Hopefully things will start to improve within a few weeks.
