homemade mac and cheese (frozen)
I have three dinner sized portions in my fridge of this stuff (THANK YOU DH's aunt!) but after thawing one the other night we found it very very bland. WHAT to add to make it edible. My son said it tastes like bread. LOL

Bacon. Fry up some bacon, crumble it and mix it into the mac and cheese. I almost always add bacon to my homemade mac and cheese.

I add andouille sausage cooked and cut into pieces, shredded chicken, sun dried tomatoes, chives, and caramelized onions.
MMMMM I know what's on my menu next week |
Re: homemade mac and cheese (frozen)
Yum...my family loves mac n' cheese! We make it different ways depending on our mood :)
One of my husbands favorites is made with swiss and parmesan cheese, seasoned with salt, pepper and nutmeg. I like to add bacon and/or caramelized onions too. Very yummy. For ones made with cheddar, I still like to add bacon and onions but the nutmeg tastes weird, imo. Sometimes I'll mix in some peas and flaked tuna. If you're not opposed to processed foods French's French Fried Onions are really good on top of mac n' cheese :) |
Great ideas!!! Thanks ladies!

garlic powder or fresh garlic. extra cheese

Almost any kind of meat (pieces). Hot dogs, chicken, ham. Also, broccoli. I love having Mac N cheese for those times I don't have a lot of time to cook, but like to add stuff to make it more filling.

Salt. Homemade Mac and cheese always needs a lot of salt IMO
