How to identify wool vs acrylic knit items
So I found some more possible CD items posted on an online thrift store group local to me. They are selling them as warm baby items- but it looks like someones CD stuff- wool longies, soakers, and fleece. When I asked about whether they were wool or acrylic the lady wasn't sure but didn't think wool. How could I identify this? Can you tell from pics? What would I look for when feeling the yarn?

Ask her how she's washed them?

Re: How to identify wool vs acrylic knit items
Unfortunately, the thrift store lady took them in as a donation and knows nothing about them. I posted the question online to see if the original donor would see it and reply, but it has been a couple of weeks and she hasn't. I think I am going to just buy them since they are so cheap and then see in person if they look used, lanolized, etc... Atleast I know the fleece items are soakers, one has a brand label.

Re: How to identify wool vs acrylic knit items
The second pic doesn't look like wool. I would bet that one is fleece. The skirty I don't know. Except it does look like it may be wool interlock. The other 2 I think may be wool. Someone on another thread said to pull out a tiny amount of the yarn. Burn it. If it smells like burnt hair it is wool. If it smells like burnt plastic it is acrylic.

2 is definitely fleece and the skirty looks to have a fleece soaker. The rest I would assume wool but can't tell from pictures.

The skirty is described as fleece in the posting. Interesting about burning a piece of the yarn, if there are any loose pieces I will try that. It's an online auction thing but I'm the only bidder so I might get these tomorrow. They were all donated together which is why I'm guessing wool for CDing. The fleece shorties are made by a CD company- I googled the tag brand.
