Flaxseed
When using it to help boost supply (in oatmeal and lactation cookies) is it best to use whole, ground or milled?

Re: Flaxseed
I've been using flaxseed meal. I think the idea is the finer it is the easier it is to digest and absorb.

Re: Flaxseed
I heard that once ground, the faster you get it into your body, the better. So, best was whole and ground with your teeth, 2nd best was fresh ground at home, 3rd was ground at store and brought home, last was prepackaged as ground at store

Re: Flaxseed
Leaving them whole just adds fiber to your diet, grinding them releases the omega 3's for you to absorb. However ground flaxseed can go rancid quickly, so store any ground flaxseed in the freezer. Whole flaxseed is more shelf stable, and it's easy to grind in a coffee grinder.
