I hate my crock pot.
Everything comes out tasting too concentrated, looks like slop and everything tastes exactly the same. I've done 40 clove chicken, bbq chicken quarters, and tried a whole bunch of stuff from a Sandra Lee semi homemade **** pot book. Everything was yucky!
Help. I want to love this thing. |
Re: I hate my crock pot.
Me too, except for one thing.. sometimes I use it to cook a bunch of chicken breasts that I then use in other stuff. I wish I knew the secret, it seems like such a great idea but I have yet to have much success.

Re: I hate my crock pot.
I have found that the cooking times have to be shortened or the food is really over done. The modern crocks cook at a much higher temp.

I was just reading in Robin Robertson's vegan slow cooker book about this. You should cook on low unless you need something to cook fast as well. |

Re: I hate my crock pot.
I have never used the "high" setting and shorten the cook times. I love mine for so many things.

I don't often make chicken in the crock pot. Mostly roasts or soups/stews.
I cook my meats from frozen too and don't adjust the time. |
Re: I hate my crock pot.
I use the crock pot at least 3x a week and nothing ever looks like slop or takes the same.
I also cook on low and put it in at 6:30am and we eat at 6pm. It's programmable. |
