Labor Pains?!

Not sure this is a good spot to put this but oh well, here goes! I'm 35+5 today *yay* and I've been having cramps more period like cramps all week well tonight they have decided to spike a bit. They've been coming in waves but theres been a constant cramp with them also. It's been going on for an hour working on two. Nothing I do is slowing them or making them better. I've tried walking, drinking water, eating ice, changing positions and nothing is helping. Walking hurts worse because he is super low and I'm already dilated 3cm. (since week 34) this is my second child, I didn't get to experience much of natural labor with my DS1 I was induced and got my epidural soon after the contractions got "bad" so honestly I don't really know what to expect. I didn't even have decent BH with him. So just kinda wondering what to expect/ should I be doing anything now or what? It's nothing to call my doctor but the fact I don't know really what to expect and don't want to be the false alarm lady either so...

Thanks in Advance!!!

In your shoes, I would start timing and watch for a pattern. If there seems to be some consistency and they get more painful, its probably time to call your OB. With DS1, I had a full 24 hours of contractions at 36 weeks. Time-able, consistent contractions, but they never got stronger or more painful. I went to take a nap, woke up, and they were gone.

Best of luck either way!

Re: Labor Pains?!

Yes, time them.

Honestly I never had pre labor pains/contractions until DS4. Well actually only one night each with 1 and 2, then they were born 4 days later. But with DS4 it was crazy. About 2 weeks before he was born I would get random contractions pretty close together for an hour at a time. But....they stopped when I rested eventually. I really thought I was in labor at times as I hadn't experienced it this frequent with the other kids.

So then I started ignoring and one morning my 2 yr old broke his leg :( . I was obviously pretty stressed and ignored the contractions as I was focused on the 2 yr old. To the point where I realized I was 3 mins apart at the ortho, they were offering to call an ambulance, lol. Made it fine to the hospital though and he came quickly.

So just pay attention to them as each pg is different. He did come early in the end by about 10 days. 1 and 2 were overdue. I do think they help you speed up the labor a bit as they are doing something. Good Luck!

At 35 week you ought to stop and put your feet up, not walk.

I agree with timing. Also a warm bath, and lay on your left side :)

Ya you need to slow down, he's really early. I had DS1 at 35 weeks after being in labor on and off since 32 weeks they tried mag sulfate, tributaline, bed rest. Try to stop it please!

Yes lay down and call your doc. It is still too soon :( I had my dd at 35+6 after months of bedrest and rising bp. She spent time in the nicu and I can tell you it is no fun to leave your baby at the hospital when you go home.

Re: Labor Pains?!

I had DD at 35 w 4 days. I had some bloody show the night before, then I had period like cramps every hour or so for the morning, met friends for breakfast, went yard saling. Didn't feel wonderful but had to go to my baby shower. More bloody show, called the doctor who said it was probably mucas plug but to come in anyway, since I lived an hour away.

I left at 3:30. At 6:00 when they checked me, I was 7 cm. I didn't know I might be in labor until half an hour or so before they checked me. DD was footling breech, so that's as far as I got, DD was born at 6:55 by emergency c-section.
