I honestly wouldn't worry about it. I think kids know if they're hot or cold and if they need more or less clothing. We live in Minnesota, and only if we're going to be outside for a long time do we wear coats. We keep winter coats in the car for emergencies, but generally we just wear sweatshirts. Yesterday was 45 outside and we were out for awhile in t-shirts and pants.
