My little guy was not a comfort nurser when he was little, either. I think it was because he couldn't suckle without getting a mouthful of milk, which he didn't always want (I have an oversupply, since I tandem). He became very fond of his pacifier instead. He's fine, my supply is fine.

It is a bit scary to not be able to measure what he's getting, but I think you will gradually become more at ease about that.
