I had a mother's helper when my twins came home from the hospital NICU. She was a former college student of mine. I paid her $12 an hour for both kids and fed her meals if we were eating while she was over. Sometimes I used the time to get things done and sometimes I used it to nap. When I went back to work to teach she would watch them at our home for the two hours I was gone. For that arrangement I paid her a monthly salary so I would not have to count fractions of hours.
