Never gave them the opportunity. I wear when they are too young to understand, and when they are a bit older (2.5 or 3 years old) I hold their hand. ds1 at 5 doesn't need hand holding anymore and will walk next to me in the parking lots. In the store, even if I'm getting 2 things, I use a cart for the youngest.
