Re: Time out for a 19 month old?
My 19m baby has recently tried out some hitting/biting. I think it's important to address it right away. So in the past I give her a stern warning. Then if she does it again I take her to her room and set her there with the door ajar and leave her there. At this point it stops being funny to her and she quickly opens the door and follows me back to the living room.
She has reacted to this well in that she realizes it's not fun to be removed from the situation, but it isn't a traumatic event for her. She then gives me a hug and shows me her gentle hands. I'm not sure when/if we'll move on to a real time out, but going to her room is working for now. Definitely need to address this since we've got a baby due in May!
