I usually cook them in the crock pot, let them cool and then put them in a freezer bag or freezer dish. If cooking in the crock pot they don't need to be soaked first (except kidney beans, kidney beans should always be soaked for 8 hours before cooking). http://www.kalynskitchen.com/2010/12...-crockpot.html

You can freeze cooked rice- plain or seasoned. The trick is putting into the bag or container while its still warm. That will help keep the rice moist. We keep mexican rice and rice pilaf in the freezer at all times.

We also make big batches of meatballs to freeze. We make homemade spaghetti sauce and freeze- that doesn't really save any money unless you have your own tomatoes.
