Not during NICU stay, but DD (32 weeker) had a chest tube for 4 days after having half of her lung removed when she was 15 months. I also deal with chest tubes on a daily basis as I work in ICUs. It really depends on the reason the lung collapsed in the first place and how much fluid is draining. It's usually a matter of a few days just to make sure they don't risk having to reinsert. We just went through this with our newest ds. Do you mind if I ask why she had part of her lung removed? Ds had congenital lobar emphysema and had his left upper lobe removed 3 weeks ago.
