Re: Do you pump in the middle of the night?

I am far from being an expert but from what I understand as long as you are nursing on demand your body will produce what your baby needs. So my recommendation is to pump to relieve engorgement. If you really want to get a freezer stash then pump fully at 3 and freeze what you get but don't do it because you think you need to maintain your supply.

My opinion is that at 4 weeks 3 ounces is really good. You don't respond to a pump like you do a baby. I am exclusively pumping and have yet to get more than 4 ounces in a session and that's with a hospital grade rental. If your little one is under 10 lbs he probably only needs 15 ounces per day give or take a few ounces. Over 10 lbs then its about 20 give or take 5 ounces. So 3 ounces from one pump is a decent amount. I pump 10 times a day and only get 2-3 ounces per pump usually with an early morning 4 ounce pump. I have a surplus even though I am not pumping crazy impressive amounts and DD is being fed only my expressed milk.
