The owner's story sounds bogus to me, really, and waiting 10 days to have anyone look for the dog seems fishy.
the other alternative to a rescue getting her was euthanasia. Dead dogs can't reproduce very well. Maybe next time she'll use a boarder or carry Precious in her purse.
