Thanksgiving home-made musts!
My mil offered to bring mashed potatoes to Thanksgiving dinner but said they would be boxed...yuck. I kindly passed on the offer. Just has me thinking, what just has to be homemade at your dinner?
For me: Mashed potatoes Sweet potatoes Pies

Re: Thanksgiving home-made musts!
![]() Although I am making a slight exception this year and bought frozen dutch apple and cherry pies. I am making the pumpkin pie from scratch but just don't have the energy to do the others from scratch too.

Re: Thanksgiving home-made musts!
Yup. Except for the regular rolls. I cut out wheat this year and so the wheat eaters will be getting some store bought frozen dough. I'll still rise, shape and bake it at home - but I didn't want to bother making the dough. The wheat-free rolls will be scratch, though.

Re: Thanksgiving home-made musts!
Everything is form scratch except the rolls, gravy and green bean casserole. In past years, we've done store bought pies but this year, i am doing homemade cheesecake and pumpkin bars. I love, love, love cooking so I am excited for thanksgiving this year. My mom mom has leukemia and has been in and out (currently in) of the hospital since august so I am doing thanksgiving this year. This is the first year I am cooking the thanksgiving meal. I will be doing turkey, green bean casserole, pumpkin risotto, stuffing, cheesecake and pumpkin bars. My aunt is making her famous from scratch mac and cheese, my sister will do the mashed potatoes and rolls.

Re: Thanksgiving home-made musts!
Nearly everything but gravy. There's never enough homemade gravy and store bought supplemental gravy is acceptable.

Yes, I prefer everything too, but I admit that I don't make stuffing myself, but I dr the boxed stuff up. Also I am weird and love jellied cranberry sauce over homemade...I know may seem gross!

Re: Thanksgiving home-made musts!
Everything! Although this year I did buy canned pumpkin just in case I run out of time/energy to peel, cube and puree a real one for my pumpkin cheesecake.
