Butter.
Margarine scares me.... ![]() ![]() Ignore typos...probably nursing, typing with one finger on my left hand while wrangling two toddlers. yeah, I'm that good.

Depends on what. I use butter in all cooking and baking, but to "butter" bread just to eat (like dinner rolls etc) I use margarine. I put margarine in my oatmeal um.. Yeah that's all I can think of that I use it for.

Re: margarine or butter
Butter my husband is allergic to soy. 99% of margarine contains soy. For those trying to eliminate dairy even margarine contains milk in it. I discovered this when we had to eliminate dairy for ds2.
Butter is also better for baking and in my opinion tastes better as well. I would rather have a small amount of the real thing than a lot of the fake stuff.

I grew up with margarine as my mother eschewed everything made from a cow. Then, I went to culinary school for baking and pastry arts and discovered how awesome butter actually is. :-)

Butter. I can't eat margarine now, knowing what I know. I grew up with margarine in the house, but I prefer the taste of butter anyway.

However, YDS is allergic to dairy, so we must use Earth Balance (soy free version whenever possible ). Still better than true margarine, it contains better things like coconut oil and the corn in it is non-gmo. It's vegan, so it's truly dairy free, unlike most margarines. Bonus: it doesn't taste plastic-y or coat your mouth like margarine does (we visited BIL and all they had was margarine... I was never more thankful for the dairy allergy! We *had* to go buy EB, "for JJ" )I'd still take butter over EB though
