How to FF at hospital after birth?

How does this work? If you know you are going to FF from the beginning do you have to bring bottles and formula or does the hospital provide it for you? If they provide it, do I have a choice of what type/brand they give us or no?

They provide you a variety of types of disposable pre-mixed formula to use. Easy peasy.

If I remember right, you can bring your own, but you don't have to. I they they should have plenty of ready to feed samples that you should have the option of using. But different hospitals might have different policies. I suggest calling the maternity ward where you plan to deliver and ask how they handle it all.

Mine had ready to use formula and disposable nipples provided but only offered one brand.

This was mine. You either used similac which they provided or your own.

You will need to call and ask. When my milk didn't come in, we were given a choice of three kinds of Enfamil, 3 kinds of Similac, and Gerber Goodstart. They came in the two ounce nurser bottles and had individually wrapped one-use nipples. Different hospitals have different relationships with formula companies so if you have a particular thing you want to use, bring it with you, and then if they have it there, great, use it and bill to insurance. Otherwise at least you have what you want.

Each hospital is different. The one near me DOES NOT provide formula, formula samples, bottles, etc. They do not have any formula. (Yes, really!)

That's really difficult to believe. What if mom has serious complications and can't BF, or god forbid dies during or after birth?

What about all the babies in the NICU? Parents provide their own formula from outside the hospital?

I would be screwed at that hospital!! I don't have breasts due to breast cancer. That can't be right. They might "encourage" breast feeding, but there has to be formula available? Are you in the US? Our hospital only gives one brand option, but they do have it........
