Charlie's Soap. We were using the liquid, which I purchased from Jillian's Drawers and recently switched to the powder. I got the subscription service from Amazon, so the tub now comes every 3 months.

It is supposed to be completely water soluble as to not leave any build up on the diapers. It is also biodegrable and non-toxic and unscented. I originally bought it on the recommendation of the first retailer I bought CDs from and we have no complaints.

We use half the amount recommended on the label for a large load, so it has lasted longer than we anticipated. Haven't tried the powder yet, but it would be $.13 per load used as directed or about $.07/load at the volume we use.

They just got a deal with ACE Hardware, so you can find it in person nationally to try it if you don't want to order online.

Tide Free and Gentle Liquid. Kroger. Just haven't been satisfied with the simpler detergents since moving to a neighborhood with very iron-dense water.

I used original Tide powder for a month at my old house and had repelling issues as a result. New house, new water, so too many different variables to make a direct comparison, but I chose liquid at the advice of my mom (we bought her house) and Free & Gentle to avoid the scent of Tide Original.

I didn't like tide original. Tide F&G works great for me.
