Re: house rules
I guess I need to post mine just so I will enforce them better right now. Also, so that when my husband is alone with them they are still enforced and if we leave the kids with a sitter. Ours are just about the same as everyone elses as I can see, we also let the kids remind us of the chores when need be. Our family is very VERY loud so right now we are really trying to get the kids to use inside voices.

Re: house rules
We don't set up "no" rules. We set up expected behavior for everyone in the house. We have:
1-Speak with kindness and respect 2-Keep yourself to yourself 3-Respect our household 4-Respect other peoples items 5-If you get it out, put it away 6-If you ask a question, listen to the answer (my ods is 14) |

Re: house rules
We also have "Family Expectations" that were set up with my 14 y.o. DSS in mind but apply to all of us. They are things like treating each other with respect, being safe with and taking care of our bodies, everyone contributing to the household, trying your best at things you do, loving each other, etc.

Re: house rules
I think it's nice to have the rules posted if you want to...kids seem to think things are more official when they are in writing! I'd just write out the rule and then put a picture next to it to illustrate (you can get the kids to help by taking pictures of them following the rules!).
Just thought I'd share a few teacher tips regarding rules: -Have no more than 5 official rules. More than that and kids forget them and they don't take them too seriously. Like a pp said, have them be guidelines for acceptable behavior rather than super specific. -State the rules in a positive, first person way. So instead of "No hitting" the rule could be "I have nice hands and keep them to myself." -Have your kids help you think of what the rules should be for your household. If they get to help think of them they should buy into it more and hopefully obey them. Good luck!

Re: house rules
1) No banging on windows
2) No jumping on the sofa 3) No jumping on the beds 4) No hitting/biting/kicking 5) No throwing toys That's about it. The sofa thing is because it's right by our picture window, I can just see Aldria jumping on the couch and throwing herself right out the picture window.

Re: house rules
We don't have any rules posted anywhere, and they sort of evolved as dd#1 got older, but mostly: be respectful, eat only at the table, clean up your own messes (she loves crafts...), no shoes in the house, help with cleaning the house as you are a family member and use the house too!
