Canning asian pears...Need Help

I went and picked a lg laundry basket full of what I thought were apples. got them home to discover that they are actually asian pears. YUM!! I had planned on making applesauce but instead would like to can them. Everything that I have read says that they're low acid. It says to add lemon juice to bring up the acidity. Will my pears taste like lemon? Can I just use the fruit fresh stuff instead? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would just make pear sauce but a very generous Craigslister offered to bring me a bunch of apples tomorrow. I love CL.

I don't think you'll notice the lemon juice taste....I add lemon juice to acidify tomatoes when canning and you can't tell. Just follow the instructions, you should be safe. They sound yummy!

I would test it out to be sure first. Tomatoes are already boarderline with the acidity. If you have access to a pressure canner, I would go that route.

I've never canned but we've been eating pounds and pounds of Asian pears from my parents trees. I wish I could can them

We don't have a pressure canner and is says that you can hot pack with a water bath but I'm trying to stay away from all the sugar and. I would really like to can them with in water with the least amount of additional ingrediants.

they are so crisp and amazing cold! yum I don't live with them though they brought them on the plane. it was HEAVY
