Question about packing kids lunches
I have a picky eater in my 5 yr old. He doesn't like a ton of proteins. I can get him to eat peanut butter, bologna, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, corn dogs and occasionally hard boiled eggs (but only the white part).
I really don't want him to eat peanut butter and jelly or bologna sandwiches all year so I was wondering if you can pack chicken nuggets, hot dogs or corn dogs in a kids lunch if you cook the things in the morning and then pack them? I can put an ice pack on top of his lunch (or on the bottom) in his lunch bag but I don't think the bag is insulated (its a character one from Target). He doesn't mind eating them cold - I already asked him - but will they be ok for him to eat come lunch time? I don't want him getting sick or anything from them. Thanks. ETA: If you can give me other suggestions for his lunch I would love that too!

Re: Question about packing kids lunches
at target they have the character thermos containers that you would normally put soup and such in, well i have one for my kindergartner and we put speggeti, chicken nuggets, stirfry and rice type things in it. heat it up before school and it will stay hot till lunch time. they are 13.99 but definitly worth it in my opinion. hth

Re: Question about packing kids lunches
Don't forget whole grains, beans, and dairy products offer protein as well. If you really take a good look at it, he's probably getting what his body needs.
What about homemade hummus with some veggies Or cold nachos (with beans only, no hot meat) Grilled cheese sandwich on whole wheat My son like avocado and cream cheese on 9 grain toast

Re: Question about packing kids lunches
everything pp already said. but also, to op, yes. they wont spoil. i have packed hot dogs and corndogs. with and with out ice pack. at ds class they keep the lunchboxes in the class with them, and it is climate controlled. so, with out a ice pack, if it comes out of the fridge in the morning, even in a not very insulated lunch sack, its usually still cool to the touch by the time they eat. so it hasnt had time to hit room temp or get hot. and with ice packs you can pack anything and itll be ok, no matter whats in it or where they keep the lunches..
