Question Homebirth in Upstate NY

I just found out I'm pregnant with our third child. I would like to get info on a homebirth. It's always been in the back of my mind and the fact that we don't have good insurance. It's a medical account we put money into. I need resources on who does homebirth in my area. I live in upstate NY around the Cooperstown area.

I don't live anywhere near you, but here is a link that might help you http://www.midwife.org/

Good luck, mama!

Thanks, thought I didn't find anyone. The nearest midwife for home birth is an hour away. I'm hoping there might be more just not on that site.

I live in Buffalo and we have just one who offers homebirths. I found her through the site posted by rainydaysunshine.

The nearest to us is also Ithaca. So no homebirth for us.

You should call the Ithaca practice & see if they'll travel; I think they came up to Syr & did a friend's hb. I'm asking friend who she did use & when I find out, I'll post here .

Re: Homebirth in Upstate NY

I'm not from New York, but I did talk to two homebirth midwives with this pregnancy. They were both willing to work with me. The first one was a little more than an hour away and the second was 2.5 hours away! I definitely think you should call the MW in Ithaca and at least talk to her. You never know until then! GL, mama :-)

Re: Homebirth in Upstate NY

This is who my friend used; she's in Georgetown, so closer to you than anyplace else, I think.

There's also the Gently Borne office in Ithaca, as well as Kate Finn in Ithaca. Apparently there are more but it's all under the radar...I'm not in the know on that, but maybe connecting w/ a birthing circle would give you some leads? GL!
