I just didn't even tell anyone dd was here until a day after she was born. But dh was supportive of that, I'm not sure how you can convince him other then being totally honest and explaining how you feel.

Re: How do you get family to stay away from hospital?

I'd explain that you will be in a lot of pain and do not want any visitors during the immediate recovery period and you will let them know when it's ok to come visit.

on the contrary, I LOVE for people to come visit in the hossie..i get bored.

ETA- I see you resolved the issue! Good for you for speaking up and getting what you want! DH's dont' get the hormonal swing that comes with having babies either so they remember the happy times..and for me, about 5 or 6 days after i get pretty annoyed. with everyone...lol!

Re: How do you get family to stay away from hospital?

Good question--but mine is more like how do I keep my annoying MIL out but let MY family in...ha ha!

MIL/FIL/SIL were all waiting when I had Luke. MIL got to go in the nursery with DH for the initial APGAR assessments. (which are done while I'm getting my FINAL stitches & wheeled to my room)

This time I want MY mom to be the one to go.

My sister will be babysitting Luke, but wants to be at the hospital. I already let her know I don't want Luke there right away, that I'd like a few hours before introducing him to the baby. So, if my C/S is at 7:30, bring him at noon or 1.

My Dad will probably be there with my mom. So ideally, it would be DH & I, then my Mom, DH, and I (dad will wait in the lobby while we nurse & until I am decent) and then Mom, DH, Dad, and I, until Luke gets there. Dad might even just want to stay home with Luke!!

After Luke has met his brother, THEN the in-laws can make their way up....so baby will be about 8 hours old?

We'll see if I get my way. I'll have to be selective in what I post on FB....

Re: How do you get family to stay away from hospital?

I tell my family that I need someone to take care of my kids (3 at home like you) so I want them to focus on that. I allow my mom and dad to see be before and shortly after surgery, b/c I know they worry and want to see I'm okay. But, other than DH I tell both the nurses, my mom, and DH that I don't want to see anyone else for a day or so...I tell them they can see the baby, they can hang out in the waiting room, etc. but I don't want to see them. I tell friends and family ahead of time I will have a meet and greet where they can come see the baby a few weeks after I get home from the hospital so don't bother to come see me at the hospital - I DON'T want them to...oh, and this is my 4th C/S as well - for all but the 1st this has worked well for me! GL mama!
