Pumping in the AM for an afternoon feeding?

Will that hurt my supply? I'm going to work this afternoon, and pumped this morning. Can I give DS the bottle this afternoon and not pump to replace? I'm only going to be at work for about 2 (3 with travel) hrs, so I'd rather not bother pumping, but I am paranoid about hurting my supply. DS is 3 months.

Are you going to be doing this everyday?

if you're regularly going more than 4 hours without pumping it can affect your supply (I believe The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding mentioned that), but if it's a one-time or rare occurrence you'll be perfectly fine.

Thanks for the replies. I tried giving him the bottle during my meeting (with my 2 male college students, so I didn't feel comfortable NIP). He was taking it fine, but it was too emotional for me. He is more emotionally stable than I am!! I've never given him a bottle before. Only DH or the MIL have given him bottles. So, he had about a 1.5 ounces to hold him over, I stopped, and he nursed when we got home.

I may continue giving a bottle once a week. We shall see. My supply seems to respond really well to increase in pumping. I am usually not engorged in the AM, and one day of pumping in the AM and the next morning I was engorged. I didn't pump this morning and DS has been spitting up every feeding. DH calls it, "drinking from the fire hose" when DS nurses when I'm engorged. That's when he coughs and sputters. Poor little guy.

Sent from my iPhone using DS Forum, so please excuse typos!
