Thrush?

My 4 week old son seems to be in pain while breastfeeding for the last few days. He doesn't have the tell-tale white patches that typically occur in thrush that I can see, but he could still have thrush? Could it be something else? I feel awful that he's in pain

Re: Thrush?

What kind of pain is it? Do you have any pain? Thrush is not fun to deal with but there are lots of things to help once some more info is given

Re: Thrush?

I am not in pain, but it seems like whenever DS puts my boob in his mouth and starts sucking, he starts screaming and pulls back, but then he's hungry so he reaches for it again, and the cycle continues until I can calm him down and get him to sleep a bit. Should I try giving him a bit of baby Tylenol and see if that helps?

My baby went through a phase like that. She usually calmed down after a few big toots. Maybe if you think he's gassy some Mylicon?

Could be thrush, gas, reflux... Is that the only time he acts that way? If he's not displaying any signs of discomfort any other times, then it might be thrush. He doesnt have to have white patches in his mouth to have thrush.

I probably wouldn't give any Tylenol. But that's just me.. Not until you are sure what's going on.

Re: Thrush?

Sounds like reflux. But Nicholas also did this and after a couple weeks he stopped. I gave him gripe water it seemed to help.
