2 year old colouring in?

I have noticed that my 2 year, 1 month toddler is trying and succeeding to an extend to colour her pictures inside the line. Till just recently, she would just take the crayon and scratch all over and anywhere without any regards for the actual picture. She is not trying to colour a tree brown and a flower pink, but she does try and stay in the lines.

Do yours do that too? (I know I can try and find a website that will tell me if this is a normal 2 year old skill, but I'm interested in what actual moms see their kids do.

Yep, my DS is 26 months and he will try to color in the lines. My DD was doing that before 2.

I think a big part of when they do it depends on whether they like to color or not. If they like to color it will be earlier than those who don't like to color. And some kids just don't like coloring!

It is so fun to seem them start doing it though, isn't it! They are getting so big!

Thank you. It is so incredible how quickly they develop. Each time she learns a new skill I feel like it is too quick! Like: How does a 2 year old know how to do that, I'm sure I learnt it much later. LOL.

My 2.5 year old has been doing that for a while. She LOVES to do any kind of art and asks to paint almost every day. She also has 2 grandparents that are artists.
