teething or what?

Okay my DD is nearly 4 months old and the past day or so she has been getting really mad at the breast. Suck for a few sucks then pulling off and latching back on sucking and pulling off. I don't know if its teething or if my milk is not coming out fast enough for her.

Help me mamas its really upsetting me!

I think it could be teething.

Isabel went thru something similar around 6 months. It only lasted a couple days, but they were miserable days while it lasted! I had recently started some solids, so I was able to express milk and make very runny rice cereal for her to eat from a spoon, and that she liked. I think there must be something about the sucking action or the suction that causes discomfort when they first start teething.

Once we got past those couple days, tho, she was fine and never did it again.

Sounds like teething...DS is having the same problem. He's been teething for months now. Do you have some teething tablets or gel for her? The sucking action really puts a lot of pressure on their sensitive gums...I feel for you both! You might also freeze a little breast milk and put it in a mesh bag and let her suck on that, if she will. My son liked that a lot, and he was getting nourishment, too.

Growth spurt and/or teething. My dd was doing this for the last couple days. I know she's teething but I think she was also working to increase my supply. Now that it seems to be responding, she's calming down a bit.
