Hello all! Starting yesterday, my left breast has been sooooo terribly sore. I'm about seven weeks along and I'm trying to continue nursing my seven month old, but the pain is nearly unbearable. Praise God its only on the left side right now. Does anyone know of any ways to ease the pain? I know its hormonal, but maybe icing it before nursing? Is it ok to feed him primarily from the right breast for a while, since my supply is well established? I'm open to just about anything! TIA!

I iced my breast too in the first trimester. It should be fine to only nurse on right. I would just make sure that I'm pumping the left or at least feeding every now and then so I don't get engorged or a plugged duct.
My nipples got super sensitive so I had to bring out the lanolin again. And this was with a 18month old who only nursed to nap and sleep at night!! It's challenging but hang in there. Some months are better than others.

Thank you so much! I'll try icing and lanolin. I can only stand to nurse for a little over a minute at a time, I just can't handle it! With my first pregnancy, the sensitivity went away after the first trimester, I'm hoping that will happen again.

The sensitivity should def go away after the first trimester, mine were super sore but after the first couple mins of nursing it diminished enough that I could handle it. Def try the ice and lanolin ( I didn't try either but my little one was 14 months and only nursing 3 times a day so I just gutted it up lol). Good luck! Hopefully it goes away soon :-)

I got pregnant with DD when DS was 9mths old. I pumped for him (he never nursed) until he was 1, and it does get better after the 1st trimester. I had to bring out the lanolin again, and I iced A LOT. I had some breast pads that you filled with water and froze that I used. Good Luck!

It'll get better! The first trimester is probably the worst for bf'ing while pregnant.

I bf the entire pregnancy and now I'm tandem nursing. So, it can be done!
