Ugh..stress.

Dr just called and said my Spina Bifida levels were slightly elevated. I have to go back in tmrw for repeat bloodwork..is this a common occurance??

Can't answer your question because I never tested but my LO was diagnosed with spina bifida occulta at 18 months. It's a very mild form of the condition, 10% of the population has it and many do not know. It's name means "hidden" spina bifia. I was told that it is likely to have no impact on kiddo's life. She has kind of a hairy mole in the cleft of her buttocks. She walked right on time and is in the process of potty training. I know she can hold her urine, which was one of the only issues that I was told could happen.

I'm sharing my story because you should ask if this type of spina bifida result in a positive result.

I also had a girlfriend who had the same result as you, requested further testing, and went on to have a completely normal baby. Best of luck, I'm sure things will work out fine.

I tested "positve" ( elevatedd for my age group) with both of my previous pregnancies - I had specialized u/s which ruled it out for both
I decide to forgo he test this time and instead go straight to the u/s

do you know what ratio they gave you?
