Re: Waffle making question

I'd get an old one from a thrift store. I have a non-rotating belgian waffle maker and love it. It's probably a million years old (I've had it for almost 10yrs and it was old when I got it) I think the older, well-made ones are almost indestructible.

@ mama_to_DJM: I am not sure what you mean about cleaning... as long as you don't over fill them so that they drip out the sides all that you need to do is wipe them down afterwards. Now, if you overfill and it leaks out they are ALL awful to clean.

Re: Waffle making question

I bought the cuisinart griddler with the waffle grill plates. Love this. Griddler waffle plates

We also have the waffle maker that spins around, but I am planning on selling it now that I have the griddler.

I love I having one appliance that does so much. The paninis we have been making lately are the best I have ever made. The plates are reversible so you can get a plain griddle side or flipped for the grill mark side. I make blackened tofu, fried potatoes and paninis on the grill side. I sliced potatoes thinly, 1/4 in. and grilled them with olive oil and s/p on the press too. You can lay the whole thing flat and make pancakes or other things on it using both sides of the griddle.

And the waffles come out terrific and huge, don't be fooled by the pics. My dh and I can split one waffle and be happy happy. Each section holds about a cup of batter I think. I haven't used my stovetop since I bought this last month.

For cleaning both the panini/griddle plates and the waffle plates are dishwasher safe, but I just clean them by hand, no problems.

Yeah, I want to know too. I think I'm going to make hash browns or breakfast in the morning.

I have an Oster Belgian waffle iron that I really like. I went through a few as I really wasn't happy with the others I tried. I don't think some of them get hot enough which leaves you with soggy waffles. I haven't ever tried a turning one though.

Re: Waffle making question

We found one on amazon we want baaaaad it's a cast iron one you do on the stove (or campfire lol) but I just like the idea of not having to clean the awful electric one, I'm like everyone else here, haaaaaate to clean that thing. Seriously! We eat mainly pancakes for that reason. So kinda silly to store the darn thing.
