I don't understand either why you guys have to pay more for shipping? Postage to you is the same price, so why would anyone charge you more?

Re: Online shopping in Alaska & Hawaii - shall we make a Sticky or dedicated thread?
I have amazon prime but when I shipped some things directly to Hawaii this christmas for my family and friends there, I wasn't able to get the free shipping on all the items. It was $$ and the items were light items too! Grrr! Though I've otherwise gotten used to having to pay a premium to ship to hawaii because boat rate is SLOW!

I was going to order Envirosaks when they were having a sale and the cheapest option was $23!!
Some sites, if you put AL instead of AK that will save you! But a lot of sites go by the actual zip code instead of the State. |

Re: Online shopping in Alaska & Hawaii - shall we make a Sticky or dedicated thread?
Alaska friends,
I am looking into getting some cloths reusable diapers and inserts(alvababy diapers, kawaii covers and maybe sunbaby diapers) I have been checking prices online and with co-op prices, they are much cheap but nobody is doing co-ops in Alaska so paying for shipping from someone from the lower 48 makes no difference. I was wondering if you and people you know maybe interested in ordering this kind of diapers in bulk. Ex: Alvababy diapers print or solid color AIO (all in one) sell for about 5.59 dollars with one insert for regular others plus free shipping. But ordering 100 of them the price goes down to 3.46 with one insert and is still free shipping!!!! Let me know if you or someone you know might be interested! Thanks |

Not sure if anyone is interested - but I think that Amazon Prime now sends to Alaska with most subscribe and save (but not all.. it is weird). Just bought a bunch of stuff and had it sent free... but it doesn't get here in two days. =)

Re: Online shopping in Alaska & Hawaii - shall we make a Sticky or dedicated thread?
It happens so often that I`m on cloth diaper online-stores that offer free shipping, loading up my cart and then at the checkout notice that they do charge for shipping to Alaska and Hawaii :-(
Just happened recently on cottonbabies.com. There are stores that really ship for free even over here, it just takes some time researching! |

Re: Online shopping in Alaska & Hawaii - shall we make a Sticky or dedicated thread?
ive lived in ak my whole life. i order stuff off line all the time and i dont ever really run into much of a shipping problem. its a little bit higher from some places but its not that bad. especially if you live in anchorage or wasilla (like i do). you can have places special order stuff for you- i bought my crib and dresser from Burlington in anchorage threw special order for no extra cost. also at toys r us i went in to get a baby swing and the in store price was 60 above what they advertised online so i had them price match- no problem. ive ordered stuff from amazon, target, walmart, bed bath and beyond and a few others (for stuff they didnt carry locally in store). but i know a few people who have lived in the bush and they would make a trip to town (anchorage) like once or twice a year to buy stuff at the malls or where ever else so that they wouldn't have to pay for shipping. some of you ladies might wanna try that?- save the shipping cost and buy a plain ticket? their are local places who are now offering "shipping to the bush" but i think you have to contact the local store personally and not go online. but im not sure as its not something i personally have had to do : /
