QUICK! What do you use bacon grease for?

When we lived near our pork farm and got bacon every week I would save all our fat for cooking potatoes, especially mashed potatoes, they are soo much tastier with bacon fat an cheddar cheese! I basically would keep it in a cup in the freezer, I'm not sure why I didn't think to keep it in the fridge, lol, that would have been much easier now we hardly ever get bacon because we live in the city and the place we get our pork from is so far away that we save bacon for special occasions.

I am not very adventurous so I just use it to saute onions and then freeze them for when we're having perogies or making soups or really anything.

Mmm...bacon. I've never used the grease before though. My husband scrambles his eggs with a touch of it.

Oh no, bummer! At least you tried! If it makes you feel any better, it took me about 10 years of trying off and on make a decent biscuit. I just couldn't get the hang of it for some reason! I finally stumbled upon the recipe I posted and it's the only recipe I can make and have turn out good each and every time.

This sounds wonderful!! You don't put any flour in the recipe? Or does the self-rising cornmeal have flour in it?

I don't add any flour and flour is not listed as an ingredient in the cornmeal I use.

I love to fry my eggs in it for extra flavor. Use it in gravies.
