How do you handle requests to Santa?

When my son was little, I told him that Santa and the elves made the toys.... So XYZ brand name was not going to happen because Santa doesn't make those... company XYZ makes them. He always got a "hand made" Santa toy. (like Lincoln logs out of the container).
