Re: Nausea advice?
I had to take zofran for my 2nd pregnancy. I threw up every night with both babies, but the 2nd one was followed by waves of nausea.
One fair warning about the zofran, it will make you really constipated!!

The unisom/b6 combo is actually marketed in Canada for morning sickness but isn't labeled or prescribed as such in the us. I doubt the FDA will ever touch a morning sickness drug again. Too much liability.

Re: Nausea advice?
So how much b6 and how much unisom? And how often can you take it?

Eta I took mine every night before bed so I (hopefully) wouldn't throw it up. My ob told me it was okay to take a whole tablet though, or do half and half in one day.

Re: Nausea advice?
The max dose for B6 is 100 mg I'm pretty sure. My doc had me on 25 mg three times a day. It did nothing though, I've read it works best when combined with Unisom. I was already taking too many pills to be willing to add more.

Re: Nausea advice?
Hi, actually the cravings you're having are really your body craving PROTEIN. Grab some lean meat - some chicken, turkey or fish if you like it and eat that. It will satisfy the junk cravings. When you're pregnant your body mixes up signals. Sugar & salt = protein.
As for the nausea - anything lemon actually does the trick. Even just smelling some lemon essence will help tremendously. The vitamin B candies can also help, but I really got the most relief by smelling lemon. If you skip the junk and manage your cravings wisely you will not gain as much weight and you will feel so much better. If you need to & can you should also see a nutritionist that can help you while pregnant. Congrats & feel better

I would think the the Unisom/B6 combo would be the safer of the 2 considering its not an Rx but Zofran is a Catergory B so it's not considered unsafe. They're currently doing research on the effectiveness of Zofran vs Doxylamine/B6 on hyperemesis.
I had horrible sickness with my first 4 pregnancies but my last was much different. Not sure why. I did take Unisom & B6 when I felt sick but didn't need it as much as I anticipated with my past.

Re: Nausea advice?
Another strong believer of unisom/B6. This is the first pregnancy that I was puking 4 times a day by 7 weeks. I have only thrown up 3 times and it was at 9 weeks 5 days. The queasy feeling is still there all day if I don't eat enough but I'm able to function through it *most* days.
Of course I am hoping this could mean a boy is growing in there since I have 3 girls who gave me terrible morning sickness.
