Re: HOW will I keep kids out of my Christmas tree?
i put my tree in jail.
i put a super yard gate around my tree. we only have a few breakable ornamits (5 mabe?) & we keep them @ the very top. all of the other ones r the cheap plastic ones from the $1. store or plastic ones i had for yrs & dont care if they get broken. we also have some tiny stocking we hang on the tree (each child has there own) i also dont let the kids touch the tree after they help decorate it. once the gate is colsed the tree is off limits. i also hang up r stockings on the super yard gate. it makes it look nice & festive.

We put ours in the living room, and the kids aren't allowed to play in there. The kitchen is gated so the kids can't go out there.

Re: HOW will I keep kids out of my Christmas tree?
I put all our breakable ornaments on display somewhere else. My kids are old enough they should know to leave the tree alone, but for some reason they LOVE to walk their toys in the tree

Re: HOW will I keep kids out of my Christmas tree?
We only use non breakable ornaments that can be hung by thin ribbons that are securely attached. Our trees always ended up naked as high up as LOs could reach and I just tossed the things they removed in a box in our laundry room & redecorated again on x-Mas eve so it was pretty for pictures (pics of tree with all presents around it & pics of he kids opening their stuff up).

Re: HOW will I keep kids out of my Christmas tree?
Only decorating the top half didn't work for me last year. My dd knocked the tree over two times and she busted all of my ornaments. I ended up with only candy canes. She was 2 ans 1/2.

Re: HOW will I keep kids out of my Christmas tree?
Be careful. My three year old managed to knock ours down several times. I need to buy all new ornaments .

Another idea I saw on Pinterest was the Felt tree idea with felt ornaments that you put on a wall and the kiddos play with that all they want. That may detour some curious hands in a positive way as well. |

Re: HOW will I keep kids out of my Christmas tree?
We decorate the tree as normal and we teach them not to touch. We've never had a child break an ornament other than when helping decorate and accidentally dropping them.

Re: HOW will I keep kids out of my Christmas tree?
I have an x-pen meant for dogs that we put around the tree last year. DD is 2 and a bit this year, but we'll probably x-pen the tree off again - she still puts everything in her mouth.
