My cupboard is bare...I didn't plan a meal for today because I thought we'd have Thanksgiving leftovers but we don't. I have boneless chicken breasts and a cabbage. I have garlic, onions, spices, etc. I know I can make a stir fry and serve it over rice but we have that ALL the time and I am getting sick of it. Any other ideas with these basic ingredients?

What about chicken and rice/pasta with a cabbage salad?
You could grill/bake the chicken and roll them up in the cabbage like a wrap.
If you have any other veggies you could leave the cabbage out of today's meal and use it tomorrow. You could throw some mixed veggies or just singles in with the chicken and rice.

cabbage soup- we love this http://www.theriver1059.com/pages/jo...ticle=10054595 . the beauty is you can take out or add whatever you have on hand and the flavor will still be good. We halve it and I use chicken granules and water instead of broth. And since we are part time vegetarian I don't put chicken in it, but the recipe calls for it. You could also just make a regular chicken soup and throw the cabbage in, but there is something about the tomatoes with cabbage that makes everything better.

We're also big fans of this http://vegweb.com/recipes/rice-and-cabbage-casserole . You could serve the chicken on the side. I use 14 oz can of tomatoes

You could also make pulled barb chicken (if you have sauce or ingreds for sauce) and cole slaw. We usually make our "cole slaw"- guess I should call it cabbage salad- with vinaigrette. Our favorite is a dill vinaigrette but I know a lot of people don't keep dill weed- we love it. But any kind of honey garlic or honey balsamic would be good too.

We don't eat chicken, but I roast onions and cabbage and my kids love it. Slice the cabbage in wedges (onions in slices) and put some olive oil on top with salt and pepper (maybe lemon, if you like the flavor) and bake in the oven at 400 degrees until the cabbage is cooked through and browned. (typically for us 45 min). I suppose you could bake the chicken in the oven too.
