WWYD: a (long) question regarding health and a party

Flip it around... If it was a SIL or BIL who had this exposure/symptoms and came, would you be annoyed?

Stay home and send Dh. That's not something to mess around with. You need your health and so does DS.

On the flip, I would be massively ticked off if I threw a party and my SIL showed up with whooping cough and sick kids exposing everyone else. People understand. And if they don't, oh well.

Another vote for this. You've got time to figure it out. Also, and I certainly could be wrong, but if you had whopping cough this summer wouldn't you be immune to it? I thought this was why people over 65 don't need the vaccine, because they assume they were exposed to it as children and therefore immune?

According to my quick Internet search, the earliest you can get it again is 7 years later. If you had classic pertussis this summer and fully recovered, than this cough is unlikely to be pertussis.

Having it and getting over it gives you the same immunities as a vaccine, so if you truly had whooping cough last summer, you are immune. That said, flu is going around and it has a bad cough. My sister has it right now. I'd stay home and get better, but if you had whooping cough that recently, it's not that again.

I'm feeling better, and DS had the doc look at him and she thinks its a sinus infection , although she's treating with the same meds as he'd need for whooping cough, so if it comes back positive, we're out of the contagious window. With that said, after two days of meds, he's doing better. I feel like a goof!!!

Stay home. Why on earth would you even consider spreading the cold? I mean, it's obvious its contagious because more than one of you have it. I would be so upset if anyone came to my home with a horrible cold to share with me. Just let the family know you couldn't make it as you were too sick to travel. it's the truth.
