Re: Sharing your food with the kids
I don't share during meal time or if it is a meal. If they are still hungry after eating their lunch they are welcome to get more fruit/yogurt ect.
Snacks i share if they ask.

Re: Sharing your food with the kids
Not usually. I mean, maybe a bite or two, but not usually. I can tell when my kids are hungry and when they want it just because I have it. In fact, I have asked my kids and they told me they weren't hungry, they just wanted it because I was eating. When they are truly hungry, I will make them some food.

I can see if they had sandwiches and I made myself a stuffed quesadilla or something but I eat what they eat, just after or it's cold. We eat dinner together every night. They can eat as much as they need, I don't cut them off during meals.
Dh is starting to realize that sitting down with a big bowl of cereal or a plate of nachos is dangerous to his appetite. The younger three will eat everything on his plate and he'll be left with nothing.

Re: Sharing your food with the kids
We eat the same food at the same time. I do it on purpose because they want to eat what I have and it's a good way to get them to try new foods and eat healthy.
Once in a while, I'll make a special meal for DH and me but we won't eat it until the kids are in bed. ETA: I don't let them eat off of my plate or each others, neither does DH.

Re: Sharing your food with the kids
Nope, I don't share. I will continue to get them more of their own if they are hungry, but my food is my food. They don't even ask anymore.
DH does share though, and they will often climb up in his lap and ask for some of whatever he is eating. |

Re: Sharing your food with the kids
No I don't share. DD's notorious for getting daddy to give her breakfast when he gets up with her, and then bugging me for mine when I get up a little bit later. She will snack all morning if I let her and then not eat lunch. If she's not bugging me for my breakfast, she's bugging me for a snack while I'm trying to eat. I'm trying to teach her to respect the fact that I am not a short order cook and I am not going to stop eating my hot cereal and let it get cold because she suddenly decides she NEEDS a snack. Most other meals we eat together so I don't get that I want yours not mine.

Re: Sharing your food with the kids
Nope I don't share. My kids know this and don't ask anymore. I will be happy to get them more of breakfast, lunch, or dinner on their plates but I won't give them any from my plate. My bil shares with his kids and they don't understand that they shouldn't take food from other peoples plates without permission. It drives me nuts to have them come over and try to take things from my plate.
