Re: Kids activities that require no toys- add to the list!
Putting on plays. The price for the hours of freedom is that you have to pretend to enjoy it when they perform it for you.

Re: Kids activities that require no toys- add to the list!
My little kids play this game that involves putting each other to bed and then waking them up.
They also play birthday party where they give each other a "cake", sing, blow out the candles, and then unwrap a "present." We have a LOT of loosely crocheted afghans around here. They put those on and declare themselves ghosts/zombies and pretend to scare each other. Pool noodles cut in half go down the back of the shirt and get pulled out for sword fights. So that one involves a toy, but it really keeps them entertained.

Races. To anywhere from anywhere. Give each a penny and see who can put it in their piggy bank (upstairs) the fastest then race back down. Do again. Finish roll of pennies lol.
Snow ball fight (sock balls) Play doctor with a popsicle stick - it functions as an ear-checker, eye-checker, knee-checker, everything-checker. Play beauty salon with the same popsicle stick. It functions as nail polish, make-up applicator, hair curler. My kids like to work out with me. We use the Xbox Kinect but you could do anything in your livinm room.

Dd is 2 and we have started cooking together. Well, i guess i mean " cooking" as there's still lots of off limits stuff like knives, heat, cheese graters, etc! But she lives to dump and stir and then look in the oven - i am going to burn out the oven light - and proudly proclaim, "Me help!"
I used to love playing store and we inly used whatever was laying around - no special toys involved. Flashlights - chase the beams around or make finger shadow puppet things

My kids love having tea parties. A little caffiene free hetbal tea, some homemade banana bread (or whatever)...they love it!
Find a large box and let them go to town on it. Endless hours of play. Keep an eye out for neighbors getting new appliances, or ask an appliance store for extras. Make a tent with sheets, blankets, and the dining room table. Picnic in the living room and a movie.

Re: Kids activities that require no toys- add to the list!
What about baking or decorating cookies together
Science experiments in the kitchen - watch food coloring disperse through water, play with rice & measuring cups, make baking soda & Lemmon juice volcanoes, finger paint with condiments, make art with pretzels macaroni & marshmallows. Treasure hunts - indoors or outside Make piles of odd clothing & see who can get dressed first. Game of putting a whole outfit on backwards, or inside out, or both. Who can balance what on their head the longest Draw an animal out of a hat & be it |
