Re: Does this seem normal or should I get my child checked out?
Wait, 3's are an ugly age too? Noooooo!
![]() We just dove into the terrible two's within the last few months. My Dd is definitely asserting some independence. I'm trying to make sure she has a voice in things and her opinion is heard. She usually flips out for the following reasons. 1. Not having a chance to fully experience something, even if it's the experience of throwing handfuls of uncooked rice all over the kitchen. She also gets the experience of cleaning up when that happens 2. Not giving her the chance to accomplish something herself, even if the frustration of doing it sets off a tantrum. 3. Not getting something she wants. Sometimes the tantrums are unavoidable. Acknowledging that she is upset really helps. Other times, ignoring them is better. If I catch on that a tantrum is a punishable offense, she'll get a 2 minute time out and a talk about what behavior needs correction.
