I personally benefited so much from reading this book. I also recently received another one by the same authors, Parenting the Hurt Child, which I plan to read as well.

This book was really helpful for us. My only regret is I didn't read it sooner. I actually bought a few copies for family members that were just not getting the attachment aspect. It was helpful for them too.

People do not get attachment at all. Thats a good idea to provide reading materials. A few people in our family are following closely and very interested but don't understand. Like why I would care about dfs mom enough to get her a gift or why dfs and my dd may not bond like other siblings. Or how a baby can have any long ish term emotional issues.

Agreed. Attachment is thoroughly misunderstood. You hear more often than not to not worry about what a baby has to go through (medical procedure, CIO, nicu stay, etc) because they won't remember it. There's this idea that what happens to a baby doesn't really leave a lasting impression on them. So as long as a baby is placed in your home fairly young, there's no real understanding of why that could deeply impact them.
