I strongly encourage everyone on this journey to read this book:
Adopting the Hurt Child http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/adopting-the-hurt-child-phd-keck/1018071517 "Overview Written in a nontechnical style, this book brings to light grim truths but also real hope that children who have been hurt can be healed and brought back into life by adoptive and foster parents, therapists, teachers, social workers, and others whose lives interact with theirs." I personally benefited so much from reading this book. I also recently received another one by the same authors, Parenting the Hurt Child, which I plan to read as well. We need all the help we can get, and when I come across something special like this, I have to share! ![]() Cheers!

Re: GREAT BOOK!
This book was really helpful for us. My only regret is I didn't read it sooner. I actually bought a few copies for family members that were just not getting the attachment aspect. It was helpful for them too.

People do not get attachment at all. Thats a good idea to provide reading materials. A few people in our family are following closely and very interested but don't understand. Like why I would care about dfs mom enough to get her a gift or why dfs and my dd may not bond like other siblings. Or how a baby can have any long ish term emotional issues.
