Re: Is this a normal vaccination reaction? ((NEW PIC - UPDATED 72 Hours After Shot))
No, this is NOT normal. This is what my eldest DD experienced at 6 months. I was told by the ped that it was "normal." She reacted w/every vax (each being labelled "normal") until at nearly the age of 5 she became a different child overnight within 24 hrs of vaccination! I thought she became mentally ill and was soon diagnosed w/severe ADHD. Follow your gut.

Re: Is this a normal vaccination reaction? ((PIC))
Erica, DS2's leg, the entire thing looked just like that 2 days after his DTAP#2. According to the CDC, it is a moderately common reaction to DTAP. And, unfortunately, adverse reactions to DTAP tend to escalate with each subsequent dose of the series. I'm so sorry your guy is suffering. Quentin was miserable for 5 days. Itchy, painful, dry, hot, hard and super angry looking, to use your word.

Hey mama, I'm not sure if it was already suggested to you but try using the Benadryl externally on the red area. Just avoid the actual puncture.
Poor kiddo

Re: Is this a normal vaccination reaction? ((NEW PIC - UPDATED 72 Hours After Shot))
Thanks, ladies. I reported it to the VAERS, as suggested here
![]() He's doing much better! His leg is a still a little discolored (not red anymore, but dark, almost like a bruise) but the itching and swellings is gone. We will no longer be doing DTaPs for him from here on out! Although this was #5, so I'm not sure if he's supposed to get anymore?
