Re: If you had short labor w/1st, was 2nd also short or shorter?
DS1 6.5 hours from first contraction to birth, 1 hour of pushing, was at the hospital for 3 hours before he was born
DS2 5.5 hours from first contraction to birth, 3 pushes, was at the hospital about 2 hours Both of those times I arrived in transition With DD I assumed things would also go quickly, she was born 17.5 hours after my first regular contraction (5 minutes apart or less), but I had been in early labor for about 12 hours before that. 5 pushes, we were at the hospital for about 10 hours before she was born because I had already labored so long and regular at home, even though it wasn't as intense we went in anyway. I had an anterior placenta so I thought maybe I just couldn't feel everything the same way as the first two and was scared we wouldn't make it. It really was an easy labor until the very end (posterior and super intense back labor for about an hour before she was born), just took forever because she was in a bad position. |

Re: If you had short labor w/1st, was 2nd also short or shorter?
My first I had painful contractions for about 3 hours before my water broke, then I was at the hospital within an hour, had her 45 minutes later!
This time we're going to be prepared for a homebirth, just in case. My doctor keeps stressing going to the hospital early, even if it means wandering the halls and courtyards. I think she's nervous for me, haha.

#1: I was induced. Labored 13 hours, including 1.5 pushing and ended in a c-section.
#2: Labored for 7ish hours at home. Went to hospital and labored for 13.5 hours, including 2.5 hours of pushing. Ended with vbac! I certainly hope that if we have #3, it's shorter. I would like a shorter pushing phase anyways, the rest is bearable. |

Re: If you had short labor w/1st, was 2nd also short or shorter?
My first was medicated, but I progressed from 0-6 in about 5 hours and panicked when I hit transition, got an epi and it stopped my labor, pictocin made it crawl and 12 hours later I had DD1, my second I had my first contraction at 830am and pushed DD2 out on the third push, at 1030am. I am freaked out that I will have #3 in a car on the way to the hospital, which I'm sure I'll post about once I'm further along

Re: If you had short labor w/1st, was 2nd also short or shorter?
My early labor with DD was obscenely long (44 hours long....gah) but once I hit active labor she was born within 6 hours with around 30 minutes or so of pushing time.
I just had DS 2 weeks ago, I was induced (using only cervadil). From time when cervadil was placed (9pm) to the time he was born was 8 hrs and 13 minutes. If I count from when contractions started (10:30) it was less than 7 hours, and less than 15 minutes of pushing. So for me it was definitely shorter the second time around!
