Any tips on easing toilet fears?
DS is afraid of the toilet - we have one of those snap on toilet seats for potty training bc we don't have room for a separate kid's potty chair - how do I get him to try it? TIA!

I'm curious too! Mine acts that way about the big potty and the small potty! I don't know how to get him to sit on it and I know that forcing him is not the answer!

Do you let them in the bathroom with you when you go?

Then I'd say he's not ready. Just have him go to the bathroom with you when it's convenient and stay for everything including toilet flushing and hand washing. Don't be overly reassuring but simply say, "The toilet is going to be loud when I flush, but it's ok" and ignore any clingy/scared behavior.

Re: Any tips on easing toilet fears?
BUBBLES and books, bubbles first, my dd is 18 months, she would not sit, so i bought bubbles, sat her on the toilet, she cried andimstarted blowing bubbles and it was so much fun she wasnt scared anymore. Also i had gone tomwalmart bought a tall mirror for $6 i placed it so she can see herself. It really helped her, now we read books too, shen she wants down,mi help her down but also put away tthe bubnles and books, of she cries for bubbles i put her backmon the toilet and start again, good luck

Ps now she brings me a book grabs my hand and walks me to the toilet, still no action, but she loves to sit on the toilet now

Re: Any tips on easing toilet fears?
My daughter doesnt seem scared of sitting on the potty unless she is naked. She says ouchy. We use a child potty, im wondering if its pinching her or something. Might try using a snap on for the big toilet.

Re: Any tips on easing toilet fears?
I know this is terrible, but with both of the boys I used bribery. I would give them m&ms for sitting on the potty and for going. They were so distracted over picking out which color candy, they would relax a little. My oldest pld at 3 and my second boy pld and 25 months.
