In my experience it is common to get 2 u/s. 1 early on (usually the 1st appointment when you are anywhere from 6-12 weeks) for dating purposes/making sure things look alright, and 1 at 20 weeks for the anatomy scan.

I was hoping for one at my 7w appt last week, but no. This MW office only does 20w, unless we opt for the quad screen at 10w. So it doesn't feel very real yet...hopefully we'll hear a heartbeat at the next appt in early Feb.

My dd had one last week. Heartbeat at 172 bpm - 8 weeks 2 days.
